EIZO Releases 30-Inch, 6 Megapixel Medical Monitor with Streamlined USB Type-C Docking and Built-In Comfort Light for Radiology and Teleradiology

RadiForce RX670Hakusan, Japan, August 1, 2024 – EIZO Corporation (TSE: 6737) today announced the release of the RadiForce RX670 – a 30-inch 6 megapixel color monitor for diagnostic imaging in radiology and teleradiology. It offers USB Type-C® docking for streamlining connectivity in the medical image reading environment.

The RadiForce RX670 is the successor model to the RX660. The monitor’s large 30-inch wide screen displays 6 megapixels of information (3280 x 2048), allowing multiple medical images to be viewed simultaneously on a single screen for centralized viewing.

The monitor retains the high performance and rich features of its predecessor, including DICOM® Part 14 compliance, while increasing the maximum brightness from 1000 cd/m2 to 1100 cd/m2. These combined features ensures gradation remains consistent in monochrome medical images such as chest X-rays, CT, or MRI. It also supports color display for reviewing images used in endoscopy, nuclear medicine, and ultrasound. This provides the flexibility to view and review data from multiple modalities in one location.

The RX670 is equipped with USB Type-C connectivity, which allows it to act as a docking station that can display video signals, transmit USB signals, and supply 94 watts of a power to a connected device, such as a mobile workstation, all with a single cable. This not only streamlines connectivity in traditional reading rooms, but also supports the needs of end users who are embracing the growing trends of teleradiology and home reading.

A LAN port is built directly into the monitor for a stable wired connection. Connecting to a workstation via USB Type-C allows access to the network through the monitor, which is useful when facilities require a wired connection to comply with security policies. The monitor also has three USB Type-A ports and an additional USB Type-C downstream port for easy connection of peripherals such as an external keyboard, mouse, or web camera.

In addition, USB Type-C supports daisy chaining to easily connect multiple monitors from a single USB Type-C video signal output from a workstation, eliminating excess cabling around the installation area. Daisy chaining provides a convenient multi-monitor configuration for reading reports, examination lists, and patient charts, while reducing the need for frequent window switching or excessive scrolling that would be required when using a small screen.

In addition to various modes for different modalities such as chest X-rays, CT, and endoscopy modes, the RX670 includes a digital pathology preset mode that provides custom settings for viewing microscopic cell and tissue structures in high detail on the monitor.

Eye fatigue caused by the stark contrast between the low-light conditions of reading rooms and a bright screen is a common problem for radiologists reading and interpreting medical images. To combat this, the RX670 features a built-in comfort light that gently illuminates the wall behind the monitor without interfering with image visibility. An adjustable spotlight is also attached to the front of the monitor for reviewing documents or notes in a dark reading room.

EIZO strives to be a leader in responsible business and manufacturing processes to protect the environment for a more sustainable future. The RadiForce RX670 is made of more than 77% recycled plastic. This mitigates the amount of plastic waste entering the environment, conserves resources, and promotes the reuse of materials to preserve the natural ecosystem. The RX670 uses molded pulp made from recycled cardboard and newspaper in its packaging instead of conventional recycled styrofoam or plastic. EIZO aims to continue this and other responsible manufacturing practices to maintain high product quality while keeping the environment in mind.
